Rebellion or Mid-Life Crisis?

I may well be pushing my luck on this interpretation, but I am feeling rebellious at the moment, as you will see.

The prompt is 'Seasons'. I chose Autumn because of the red, gold and orange leaves falling from the trees. Now for the metaphor stretching bit:

Before

the red/orange/gold falling bit

After

Yes, I woke up on Sunday morning and decided to cut the long curly tresses OFF! I got my hands on my husbands electric hair clippers and the rest is history.  I emailed my Mum the photos and this is what she said:

Sweet baby ***** and all the saints!!!!!!!!! We thought you'd vanished down the plughole and your hair got caught!!!!!!!!!!! Bit of a shock though to see you as an 8 year old again! Do you have nits?

Nooooooo, no nits! So, rebellion or mid-life crisis?

Whoa! Drastic but it really suits you. I find that there is some kind of weird element of freedom with short hair. Love it!

I think you really can carry off the short cut, well done to you

VERY drastic but it suits you :-D

Yes you were rebellious by emailing your mum the picture heheh That made me giggle! Why did you want to cut your hair though?

Well, I like it. Short hair is also really liberating. Enjoy!

@Marylin, thanks :)

@SheMeans Well & @Foodie, yeah, I do feel 'free'!

@TheMadHouse, thanks, I love it myself!

@Nickie, I have been threatening to do it for a long time, I was so fed up with the high maintenance long curly thing and all I ever did was shove it in a pony tail!

Thanks for commenting.

Beautiful! Change is a good thing! And a little rebellion now and again isn't such a bad thing.

Okay, I thought that second picture was a plate of hair with a fork and a knife next to it and you were showing us your breakfast. HA HA! (don't eat that, ew.)

Oh my gosh! I almost spit out my water!

I think you look great! Getting your hair cut can put you in a great mood with a renewed spring in your step! Good for you and I bet that is much easier to deal with!

Jen said...

@Heather, totally agree, it has been a long time since I did something 'unexpected' :D

@jfb, she may put us both standing in the corner, but we can whisper to each other there!

@Cass, thanks :)

@jillsmo, lol, I just scrolled up for a look and it looks like a massive dust bunny, eewwww!

@TheHenrys lol, sorry about that :D My neighbour nearly fell out the door of her car today when she saw me!

Thanks for commenting:)

Whoa! What a change!! I'm going with rebellion, by the way!

It's gonna feel so weird when you go to wash your hair and even weirder when you go to brush it! You may have just "shaved" a ton of time off your get-ready routine!!

Jen said...

@Sandra, you are partly responsible for my surge of madness after your recent hairdo :D

@Kathleen, *whispers* it does feel a bit like that!

@Borgerour & Andra, thanks:)

@Michelle, hehehe, JFB57 has a brilliant entry that goes under the radar! Well, someone has to!

@DaniG, yep, and will forgive you the pun as you are probably right!

Thanks girls :D

Love it! I cut my hair very short probably about 6 months ago. I don't think I could go back now because it is so lo-maintenance. I think mid-life crisis and rebellion go hand in hand. I think when we reach mid-life we don't have to care as much about all of the maintenance that goes into female foofooness (yeah, it's a word)...and that is rebellious in itself!

Wow, you definitely look like a woman who knows where she's going now. What a brave and fab transformation! Any more changes planned I wonder?

Fantastic work. I think it looks great. I wish I had your courage!

Jen said...

@Lynn, totally agree and if everyone else hated it I would still love it:)

@BlueSky, no more changes that I can think of right now anyway:)

@Fran & Tilly, thanks:)

@Domestic, it took me about 2 years to get up the courage to do this!

Still..fair play to you for your absolute bravery.I bow at your feet in total awe. The "short" haircut I had for the ball was the shortest I've gone in years and I thought I was so brave!!

oh yeah....a colour change might really make another statement!!

Good on ya Jen..you brave lady.
