Mother Nature

This photo was taken in our local park. These parents have seven children to look after!! How do they manage to look so serene?

I am guessing they do it with a healthy dose of neglect - LOL

Lovely photo although mustnt get too close in case the parent swans attack you! I remember being told that about swans when I was little!

Perhaps we have a lot to learn from swans?! They always seem to have their brood in line, there's no fighting and no arguing. Must pay better attention to learn their secrets! ;)

Ha, ha! Brilliant! I notice those parents don't even have to teach their babies how to swim - if only human babies could come out a little more prepared to take on life (we're quite a pathetic species really aren't we?!).

Fantastic thoughts on 'mothering' when observing mother nature! I think, as others have said, we could learn from the swans. I certainly could, thats for sure. Ok, off to practice some serenity today... !

Hahaha, I stuggle with one and I look like crap! Great pic. We have a local park with a lake and ducks, it's great but it gets overtaken sometimes by pigging seagulls - wretched things.

Swans are one of the few animal species that mate for life too. These swans should write a book...

Great photo... you know they probably only look after them for a year... Not 20, 30 or more...

makes me think of the warmer weather and long days in the park.

Nice photo...and so true! Are you a Loreena McKennitt fan Jen? She has a song called "The Bonny Swans" which is now running through my head!

Great Pic, I just posted a swan pic from our trip to Central Park Zoo. yes they are so peaceful, but I guess if all we had to do was swim, and eat we would be so much more serene too. Boy do I want to be a swan!

Must be the nipping and the spitting those swans do, ours at our park chase people, especially when prams pass them.

I love swans! I have a photo somewhere of a pair of swans with their brood off the back of our boat...one of the cygnets was riding on mamas back...I felt a real connection with her!

They look serene cos their feathers cover up the wrnkles and grey hair lol.

Lovely but I think they always look like this regardless of how many little ones are running around after them xx

Unless 3 of them are autistic, I'm not impressed.

They are just like that perfect family down the block. Beautiful and perfect on the outside, but on the inside they have as many problems as you do. They are just better at hiding it.

Reminds me of when we lived by the canal, all the baby swans accidentally fell down a drop which had been an old lock. Their parents never came to rescue them ao the next swan family along the canal had 16 babies. Aggghhhh! I had just had my first so was completely in awe!
